Help tips for using your Easy Gait Brace.

Many patients and medical professionals who wear and recommend the Easy Gait™ Brace have passed along helpful suggestions on how they have made their walking device more comfortable and satisfying. Here are some of their ideas we think you'll find of interest.

Use the plastic support piece on your brace as a "shoehorn" when you slide your foot into a shoe or sneaker.

The snaps we affix to your footwear are flat on one edge and called "military snaps". If you must remove the elastic straps attached to your shoe, turn and twist them slightly using your thumb.

Always wear cotton knee high socks with your brace to avoid abrasions, chaffing or itching. The Easy Gait™ Brace should fit your leg loosely but is still capable of rubbing your skin, especially if it is moist.

You can wear insoles in your shoes or sneakers with the Easy Gait™ Brace. But, this walking assistance is custom-made to use with shoes that are the correct size to fit your feet...not oversized footwear.

Your Easy Gait™ Brace should outlast any pair of shoes or sneakers with normal use. The straps usually keep their elasticity for about 2 years or more. They come in white, black, brown and tan to match the color of your shoes.

This device does not keep your leg rigid and allow your muscles to atrophy. Some wearers feel their leg muscles "stretch" or "pull" for a couple of weeks after they start to use the brace. That's good!

Thread your elastic straps thru the shoelace ring provided with each brace. It will hold the straps close to your leg and let your trousers or slacks hang in a straight line. The ring can also help you adjust the "lift" from the straps on the front of your shoe or sneaker.

The Easy Gait™ Brace is not designed to support or align the ankle. It is generally prescribed for people in the beginning or intermediate stage of foot drop but may be worn with ankle supports as necessary.

The heel grommet that attaches the support piece to the back of your shoe or sneaker allows you to switch the Easy Gait™ Brace from one pair to another on the same leg. But the difference in heel height will keep you from transferring the brace from a shoe to a sneaker and vice versa.

Some Easy Gait™ Brace wearers use the same support piece with several pairs of sneakers. Just mail us your 2nd, 3rd or 4th shoe or sneaker and we'll add a heel patch grommet, two snaps and new set of straps that match the color of your additional footwear. Don't forget the ring!
